2014 Summer Camp Schedules 

  1. Early Bird: 10% discount if registration paid before April 15, 2014
  2. Day camp fees include lunch for one chaperone.  Chaperones are encouraged but not required.
  3. ALL youth ages 14-18 are encouraged to attend Experience Camps through the Destination 4-H Camps.

Day Camp & Family Camp Sessions

 

Circus Bound

Early Bird (Before April 15): $40; Standard: $45
Session 401, Saturday, June 14 - State I

Come one, come all!!!  The circus has come to camp!  Join us for a day of spectacular fun including circus games, a petting zoo, corn dogs, cotton candy and more.  Try your luck at the wheel of fortune and send your favorite staff member swimming in our dunking tank.  We'll enjoy clowning around at a water stomp and a wild ride down our crazy waterslide.  Don't forget your swimsuit, water shoes and smile.

After checking in campers, parents are invited to join in on a trip up to the Nebraska National Forest Lookout Tour.  After lunch we will take a walk through the Bessy Tree Nursery where 100's of tree seedlings get started every year.

 

Wet N' Wild Day Camp

This camp is a chance for younger campers to see the best camp has to offer. The day will start "wild" as a wildlife expert will bring live animals to camp. In the afternoon you will do some fishing and canoeing at the Schramm State Park.  make sure you bring a swimsuit because the day will end with a water party and trips down the enormous water slide.

Family Camps

Tack, Traits, & Trails

Early Bird: $175; Standard: $193
Session 403, June 6-8 – State

Whoa!!!  Looking for those families that want to have a horse-n-around weekend.  We will be camping in the Nebraska National Forest, cooking our meals and roughing it with our horse(s).  There will be AQHA challenge courses and activities along with classes on how to care for your horse and a trail ride you can enjoy while being out in the open.  We will give your horse a break and tube down the Middle Loup River and go whizzing down the 400 foot zip line.  Not everyone has to have a horse but anyone eighteen and under must have a chaperone.  So bring your horse and trailer and let's have a weekend of fun.

 


 

Explorer Camp Sessions

 

Tank & Tube the Loup

Early Bird: $195; Standard: $215
Session 405, June 4-7– State

Cattle tanks just aren't for the cows!  This trip down the Middle Loup River in an eight foot cattle tank will take you on the summer adventure you will be talking about all year.  We will stomp in the creek and end the day with an unforgettable campfire before we settle down in tents under the stars for the night.  Cooking breakfast over the fire before heading back to camp to take a ride down the zip line or sail across the high wires will keep us busy.  Not enough?  Cool off while tubing down the river during the hot afternoon and zoom down our waterslide.

 

Sandhillz Sampler

Session 407, June 29-July 2 - State

Sample the best of what State 4-H Camp has to offer!  Plan your customized camp schedule from a list of many possibilities, including canoeing, tubing, kayaking, paddle boarding, rappelling, climbing, fishing, arts, and shooting sports.  Be ready to sing camp songs, play games, and get muddy playing Gau-Gau.  Nights will be filled with skits, evening parties, outdoor movies and campfires with s'mores.  You have the freedom to choose what activities you want to do!  This camp is truly what you make it!

 

Wilderness Camp

Session 408, July 23-26 - State

Are you ready for a wilderness adventure?  Out in the beautiful Nebraska National Forest we will pitch our tents and get ready to explore the great outdoors!  In partnership with the Boy Scouts of America, we will learn how to start a fire, where to look for food, and more.  During the day we will tube or kayak down the river, zip down the 400 foot zip line, and cross the high-wires.  Finally, we'll take a trip down the awesome water slide before we go back and have s'mores around the campfire.  Do you have what it take to survive in the wilderness?  Sign up today to find out!

 

Ultimate Girls Rock

Session 409, July 27-30 - State

Join the girls for a slumber party at camp.  Talk about a camp that will rock!  Girls will learn how to cook, sew, put on makeup and fix their hair.  How will we ever get that hair to last in a trip down the river or ride down the zip line?  (No hints!)  There will be an outdoor movie on the big screen around the campfire one night with star gazing, and, of course, our famous dress-up slumber party.  It's always a camp full of surprises!

 

Robots, Rockets, & Routing

Early Bird: $205; Standard: $225
Session 410, July 27-30 - State

Build a robot, launch a rocket, and build an electrical circuit while you are at camp.  After getting all charged up and lifting off, we will test our courage to cross the high wires or step off that 400 foot zip line platform.  When you need cooled off and a little time to recharge, you will take a float on tubes down the Middle Loup River.  Excitement and adventure are packed into a few days of camp.
 

Zoo Bound

We're not "lion" when we say this is the best camp ever!  You'll spend a night at the Henry Doorly Zoo and go on two "tortoisly"awesome guided tours to check out all the animals.  Back at camp, our zip line will "giraffe" you crazy and our giant water slide will get your "seal" of approval!  You "otter" sign up today!
 

Aquatic Blast

We know that summer can get too hot, so come make a splash at Aquatic Blast!  Dive right into fun at our own private water party at Mahoney State Water Park where there is a stellar wave pool and huge slides!  You're "shore" to love swimming and building sand castles at Louisville State Park.  Back at camp, be prepared to jump right into playing water-based games all week and even zoom down our very own, huge waterslide!  How much fun can YOU have at camp?  Guess you'll just have to "wade" and "sea"!

 

Aquatic Blast Mini

This is the perfect session for those campers who can't spend a full week at camp but still want to experience all the best water activities we have to offer. You'll do all the same activities the full length Aquatic Blast does, but we'll have you home in half the time.
 

Sky's the Limit I

Calling all space cadets!  This camp is for those who love all things aerospace.  You will be spending a night at the Strategic Air and Space Museum and go on a personal, interactive tour where you can actually touch all of the air and spacecraft!  Participate in other cool activities like building and launching your very own rocket and gazing through telescopes at the night sky.  Don't forget about all the traditional camp activities like zip lining, fishing, canoeing, the giant waterslide, and so much more!  So reach for the stars, after all, the sky is the limit and sign up today!

Creativity Camp

Campers will get a chance to learn acting, dancing, music, photography, and explore the world of creative arts!  You will also get all of the camp experiences when you zip down the zip line or slide down our gigantic waterslide!  This brand new camp will have lots of opportunities to show off your creative side!  Come join us for a week to be inspired!

Outdoor Skills - Top Shot

Early Bird: $340; Standard: $370
Session 413, June 15-20 - State

Are you ready for it?  Co-sponsored with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission this camp will help you become a good marksman.  You will receive instructions right here at camp from experts in shotguns, rifles, muzzle loading, archery, fishing, hunting, canoeing, trapping, and more.  You will also be able to sign up for our Top Shot challenges.  As challenges get harder in each division you might find yourself squaring off with your teammate to stay in the challenge.  Along with all of the outdoor fun, you will experience the many activities camp has to offer.  Shoot to keep these days open for camp.

 

Outback Halsey - Survivor

Early Bird: $285; Standard: $310
Session 414, June 23-27 – State

You will survive and have a blast doing it.  You will be roughing it at the Calamus Reservoir for a night where we will camp in tents, cook over the open fire and learn how to live off the land.  Teams will be put to the test as they compete for prizes, accept challenges and more.  Back at camp be ready for adventure on the the 400 foot zip line, high wires, and the giant waterslide.  Will you be a survivor and join us at camp?

Whether you're a beginner or an advanced outdoors person, you'll have a blast at Outdoor Skills.  Co-sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, this camp helps those passionate campers build skills relating to the outdoors.  We will travel to Platte River State Park where you will receive instruction by experts teaching about shotguns, rifles, muzzle loading, archery, fishing, hunting , canoeing, camping, trapping, and more!  This will be along side all your favorite camp activities like infiltration, creek stomping, zip lining, and much more!  So sign up today, sharp shooter!

Here is the SUMMER adventure you are looking for.  Experience the adventure of kayaking & tubing down the beautiful Niobrara River.  Don't forget the camera.  The scenery is something you won't want to miss.  We'll spend two nights camping under the stars at Smith Falls.  We will play in Nebaraska's largest waterfall in the mornings and sing and dance at the campfires at night; this won't be a trip you will soon forget.  Don't let this memory maker pass you by.

Extreme Robotics/GPS/GIS – Year 1.0  ***FULL***

Session 411, June 2-6 – State
Session 521, June 29-July 3 – Eastern

This extreme session incorporates hands-on and self-guided learning in conjunction with 4-H SET GEAR-Tech-21 Curriculum and robotics program. The camp experience includes LEGO MindstormsTM NXT robotics and activities to gain knowledge of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Build and program a robot and learn how to operate a handheld GPS receiver for navigation and map making. You will also get to experience all kinds of fun camp activities including: the waterslide, shooting sports, zip lines, and campfires.
Note: The cost of the Robotics/GPS/GIS session is supplemented by a National Science Foundation grant. These sessions are for youth who have an interest in science, engineering, and technology, and include more indoor activities than traditional summer camp sessions. Campers will have additional paperwork for data collection.

 

 

Advanced Robotics/GPS/GIS – Year 2.0  ***FULL***

Session 522, June 29-July 3 – Eastern

In cooperation with 4-H SET GEAR-Tech-21 curriculum and robotics program, this session is for the camper who has previously attended a 4-H robotics camp. Campers will experience newer challenges, advanced mapping activities, and robot soccer. Experience traditional camp activities including: the waterslide, shooting sports, zip lines, and campfires.

 

Boldly Bound

Early Bird: $410; Standard: $450
Session 519, June 15-21 – Eastern

Daredevils wanted!  This camp is for the brave adventurers out there.  Discover our Odyssey Course, which has eight high ropes team events.  Test your limits at the UNL Outdoor Adventures Challenge course, just outside of Lincoln.  There, you can scale a 50-foot Alpine Tower, free fall from the 30-foot Giant Swing, or participate in many other high ropes challenges.  We'll end our daring trip with a stop at the UNL Dairy Store to get some of the best ice cream in town!  When you get back to camp you'll realize the adventure is far from over as you whiz down the zip line, conquer the high wires, master the rock wall and repel down the tower.  When your nerves are at their limit, you can hang out with your new friends swimming at Louisville State Park.  Are you bold enough for Boldly Bound?
 

 

Shooting Skills

Session 602 July 7-10 – Destination 4-H Camps (Hosted at Camp Comeca)

In partnership with Nebraska Game and Parks, this camp is for anyone wanting to practice, improve, and excel in shooting sports. Trained instructors will provide technical assistance and education in the following areas: muzzle loader, bow and arrow, shotgun, .22 rifle, air rifle, hunting skills, and environmental awareness. Campers who successfully complete this camp will graduate with their Hunter Safety Education certificate administered by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Take advantage of this great opportunity.

This camp is for the toughest of the tough who have a passion for the outdoors.  Camping outside and cooking meals over an open fire that you help build are just a few of the cool outdoor-based activities you will enjoy.  Every day will be jam-packed with fun camp activities like fishing, canoeing, T.R.U.S.T. course, and the waterslide, just to name a few!  So if you think you're tough enough, come rough it with us at Outpost Camp.

 

Creativity Camp

Aquatic Skills

Session 700, June 23-26 - Destination 4-H Camps

 

Learn to water ski, operate jet skis, ride on wakeboards, and cruise in kayaks! In partnership with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, we are hosting a trip to the Calamus Reservoir. The first day will be spent at the State 4-H Camp learning water safety and earning Basic Boating Safety Certification. Then we're off in camp vans with our camping gear to the campsite at the reservoir. Evenings will include a tour of the Fish Hatchery, campfires, and other camp favorites. This session is limited to 20 campers so register early.
 

Tube & Kayak the Niobrara

Session 701, July 14-18 - Destination 4-H Camps


Tube and kayak the beautiful Niobrara River. Before getting in the water, we'll spend the first night at the Nebraska State 4-H Camp where we will explore the Nebraska National Forest and zip down their awesome 400 foot zip line. Then we'll drive on to Valentine to begin exploring the Niobrara's canyons and discover the Nebraska Sandhills region. We'll spend a morning at Smith Falls, Nebraska's tallest waterfall, sleep under the amazing starlit skies, and cook over a campfire. This trip is limited to 20 campers. Get signed up right away.
