Application to Honor Volunteers

The Nebraska 4-H Foundation and Nebraska
Farm Bureau are again pleased to announce an excellent
way to honor outstanding 4-H volunteers in Nebraska. The 2008
Nebraska Farm Bureau Salute to Excellence Awards sponsored by
the Nebraska 4-H Foundation recognizes 4-H volunteers for the
work of the individuals in the club and community service work
of the entire club. A monetary award of $500 will be presented
to the Nebraska Volunteer of the Year selected for Lifetime Achievement,
and $500 to the Nebraska Volunteer of the Year with less than
10 years of experience, by the Nebraska 4-H Foundation. In each
category, two additional Volunteer Leaders will be recognized
with $250 cash awards presented to each. The winners will be recognized
at a statewide Nebraska Farm Bureau Event, held in early December,
2007. The two Nebraska winners will be the State’s nominees
for the Regional/National
Salute to Excellence award.
All
applications are due to the 4-H Foundation office by November
2, 2007. Information, guidelines and the application can be downloaded

Guidelines
-
Eligibility
for the 2008 Salute to Excellence Lifetime Volunteer of the
Year Award is extended only to those who have served as a
4-H Volunteer for 10 years or more at the county or state
level.

Eligibility for the 2008 Salute to Excellence Volunteer of
the Year Award is extended only to those who have served as
a 4-H Volunteer for less than 10 years at the county or state
level.

In
order for a volunteer to receive consideration, all completed
nomination materials must be submitted by a nominator, to
the Nebraska 4-H Foundation Office. A volunteer may nominate
himself/herself for this award. Out of the pool of nominations,
from each category, the Nebraska 4-H Foundation Program Committee
will select one state nominee for the 2008 Salute to Excellence
Lifetime Volunteer of the Year Award, and two alternates,
and one state nominee for the 2008 Salute to Excellence Volunteer
of the Year Award, and two alternates. The state winner of
each category will be the nominee for the national award.

Three letters of recommendation and a nominee essay must accompany
each completed nomination form. A 4-H staff member, 4-H youth
participant, another volunteer or a parent/guardian must write
letters of recommendation. The nominee must write the essay.
Details concerning the content of the letters of recommendation
and essay are listed below.

The Nebraska
4-H Foundation is pleased to announce the following winners of the
2006 Nebraska Farm Bureau Salute to Excellence Awards, and nominees
for the National Salute to Excellence Award.

Kirk
Jamison, Executive Director, 4-H Foundation; Jerry Bose;
Susan Bose; & Keith Olsen, President, Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation
Jerry
& Susan Bose
of Orleans has received the Lifetime Achievement award for volunteers
who have served more then 10 years.

Kirk

Julie
Jacobson of North Platte has received the Volunteer of
the Year award for volunteers who have served less than 10 years.
Bose and Jacobson
will each received $500 cash and automatically become Nebraska's
nominees for the National Salute to Excellence award. National winners
will receive $10,000 cash, of which $1,000 is to be used as a grant
for follow-up 4-H promotion activities in the winner's home community.
In addition,
the following volunteers, have been selected as honorary recipient.
Jane
Wilson of Moorefield and Duane Schoff
of Holdrege are honorary recipients in the Lifetime Award for 10
or more years of service.

the honorary recipients in the Volunteer of the Year award for 10

Each honorary
recipient will receive a $250 cash award. All
awards will be presented on December 6, 2005, at the Nebraska Farm
Bureau State Convention Kearney.
