The Nebraska 4-H Foundation is thrilled to announce the Nebraska 4-H Geocaching Program! The use of GPS for 'treasure hunting' has sparked an interest in geocaching among 4-H youth across Nebraska. The goal of the program is to establish a successful county and club-based interactive geocaching program.

Each county in Nebraska has been presented a 4-H cachebox by the Nebraska 4-H Foundation. Individuals/groups from other counties, states, or countries can locate these cacheboxes by the GPS coordinates posted on www.geocaching.com. With the popularity and usefulness of GPS systems, geocaching provides the opportunity for an educational activity for the 4-H program -- and a fairly simple way for counties across Nebraska to begin their involvement with this new form of technology!

Below are a few of the caches that have been placed -- using your GPS unit, see if you can find all the following 4-H caches in these Nebraska counties . . .

Arnold the Nebraska 4-H Travelbug

Arnold, the Nebraska 4-H Travel Bug, will be in hog heaven if he is able to travel between the 4-H cacheboxes across the state of Nebraska! Each county across Nebraska will soon have a 4-H Foundation GPS Geocache box hidden within their county. The other Nebraska 4-H caches are located across the state are listed above. Lincopher, the 4-H Hound

Lincopher, the 4-H Hound, is a travel bug who was born in Lincoln County. His goal is to travel to a cache in every county across Nebraska as quickly as possible. Seeing all of Nebraska before he returns to his home in North Platte will really give his friends something to howl about! As he travels across the state, please log the county he is found in. Milvia the NE Furball

Milvia, the NE Furball, is a Nebraska 4-H Fluffy Cat Travelbug and is on her way to travel through South Africa as an international cache exchange travelbug. Here Milva is pictured in front of Mushroom Rock where the sandstone rocks have been carved by water and wind over millenia.
