Money Smart Coloring Sheet

Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances.  A series of events are planned throughout Nebraska during the week of November 9-15, 2009 with that goal in mind.  Learn more at http://www.moneysmartnebraska.org/.

This year Nebraska 4-H youth are encouraged to join in the campaign by participating in any of the following ways. 

Piggy Bank Pageant
Make and decorate your own piggy bank.  Submit 4 photos (one of each side).  On a 3x5 card tell at least two ways you are going to save money to put into your piggy bank.

Abbey is 9 years old and from Saline County.

Two ways that I plan to save money to put in my bank are:
1. I am saving for a tubing trip down the Niobrara River, so I will put the money I receive for birthday and other occasions in my bank.
2. I am not going to spend money on things I don’t need like toys and candy and put this money in my bank instead. I have a savings account at the bank and any extra money gets added to this account.

4-H Savings Power Point
Develop your own power point presentation on how you can save money through something you have learned in 4-H.  Power point should be not more than 25 slides and include introduction, body, conclusion, and references slides.

Entries should be e-mailed to lmanning1@unl.edu by October 15, 2009 to be considered to receive a savings bond which will be given to the top entry in each of the three contests.  Winners will be announced during Money Smart Nebraska Week.  Questions may be directed to Leanne Manning, UNL Extension Educator-Saline County, 402-821-2151.
