The 4-H Career Portfolio is available on the 4-H web page located
at http://4h.unl.edu, look under the table
of contents for 4-H Career Portfolio. The 4-H Career Portfolio is designed
as a Word document. If you do not have access to Microsoft Word you
can contact you County Extension Office for a copy of the free program
on CD or you can download Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org.
The Open Office program will open most Word documents unless there are a large number of macros running in the program which is the case with the 4-H Career Portfolio document. Therefore, if you use the Open Office program you will need to open the file named 4-H Career Portfolio Open Office format.
To download Open Office from the web:

probably using Windows

1.1.4” in your program folder. You should also see the quick start icon
on the bottom of your desktop screen, the icon looks like two black seagulls
on a blue seascape.
To open the 4-H Career Portfolio file click on File on the tool bar
of your Word or Open Office program and select open. The files used for
Word will have a .doc extension and the files for Open Office will have
an .sxw extension at the end of the file name. Select the appropriate file
you want to open. A message about macros will appear when you open the
4-H Career Portfolio file. You will select the box that contains “enable
macros”. There are a number of files on your CD which include guidelines
for filling out the 4-H Career Portfolio, as well as information about
the Nebraska 4-H Awards program. You may want to take time to open each
