State
Public Speaking Contest
The
State 4-H Public Speaking Contest will be held on Saturday, August
30, 2008 at the 4-H Youth Complex on the State Fair grounds. The
Regional contest winners in the Senior Division in speech and radio
PSA will advance to the State Contest. The
tapes of the winners will then be shared with the Nebraska Rural
Radio Network so they can use them on their three radio stations.
Those who qualify for the state contest in the speech division must
be present at the State Contest to receive the $25 cash award and
to be eligible for the scholarships.
State
Contest Recognition and Awards
- Senior Speech and PSA individuals
who compete in the state contest will receive $25 cash award.
All contestants in the speech division except the two speech winners
will receive a $200 scholarship to the College of Agriculture
and Natural Resources, University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
- Two winners will be chosen
in Senior Speech. They will each receive an award to be determined.
- Two alternates will be named
in the Senior Speech Division. They will each receive a $50 cash
award from Mr. and Mrs. Ted Doane.
- Two winners will be chosen
in the State PSA contest and they will receive an award to be
determined.
Donors
- Nebraska Rural Radio Network
sponsors the 4-H Public Speaking Contest by providing ribbons
for the County and Regional contests, $25 cash award for Senior
Winners in Speech and Radio PSA’s, and special awards to the State
4-H Public Speaking Contest winners in Senior Speech and Radio
PSA's.
- University of Nebraska College
of Agriculture and Natural Resources provides $200 scholarships
to all the contestants in the Senior Speech Contest.
- Mr. and Mrs. Ted Doane provide
a $50 cash award to the two alternates in the Senior Speech division.
