CURRICULUM TIME LINE

April 15, 2002

  • State Fair Premium Book changes due for years 2003 and 2004. Curriculum committee will give stamp of approval and then changes will be presented to Fair Management team. (major changes every two years only)
  • Curriculum Committee gives approval for writing of new Nebraska 4-H curriculum(s) to be issued in Pick-A-Project 2003-2004. The need for writing Nebraska curriculum will be determined by: 1) potential of curriculum to earn revenue outside Nebraska; 2) potential number of Nebraska youth who might enroll in project - this needs to be a realistic number; and 3) the need of this curriculum to enhance existing curriculum or to begin a new subject matter area. Authors will have already been asked to write curriculum, so they are ready to go if project is approved.
  • Begin development of curriculum budget for July 1, 2002 - June 30, 2003.

May 2002

  • 2001-2002 curriculum budget is analyzed to determine end of the year budget situation.
  • Finalize curriculum budget for July 1, 2002 -June 30, 2003.

June 2002

  • 2001-2002 curriculum budget year is completed.
  • The 2002-2003 curriculum budget is finalized.
  • Curriculum Specialist develops standards for Nebraska developed curriculum. These standards are reviewed by Dr. Birnstihl, Susan Williams and others as designated.
  • Nebraska Curriculum Standards are given to author(s) approved to write new Nebraska 4-H curriculum. (See April 15, 2002.)
  • Addition and deletion of 4-H projects for 2002 - 2003 is determined.
  • Check on progress of curriculum being developed.
July 2002
  • 2002-2003 curriculum budget completed.
  • 2002-2003 Pick-A-Project to press.

August 2002

  • 2002-2003 Pick-A-Project ready to distribute. New projects, deletions of projects and revision of projects are evident via the Pick-A-Project.
  • Monthly review of 2002-2003 curriculum budget.

September 2002

  • Check on progress of curriculum being developed.
  • Monthly review of 2002-2003 curriculum budget.

October 2002

  • New projects, deletions of projects, revision of projects and state fair premium book changes for the 2002-2003 year discussed during 4-H Update, probably via satellite downlink.
  • Authors of Nebraska 4-H curriculum are in the middle of writing curriculum.
  • Distribute order form for pre-press CCS order and all new curriculum.
  • Monthly review of 2002-2003 curriculum budget.

November 2002

  • Monthly review of 2002-2003 curriculum budget.
  • Check on progress of curriculum being developed.

December 2002

  • Monthly review of 2002-2003 curriculum budget.

January 2003

  • Monthly review of 2002-2003 curriculum budget.

February

  • Check on progress of curriculum being developed.
  • Monthly review of 2002-2003 curriculum budget.

March 2003

  • Final approval given on: 1) final draft of new Nebraska written 4-H curriculum, 2) final draft of revisions to existing 4-H curriculum and 3) purchase of new 4-H curriculum from other sources. These would be for the 2004-2005 Pick-A-Project.
  • Pre-press order due from county offices.
  • Monthly review of 2002-2003 curriculum budget.
