2012 Nebraska 4-H MonthCelebrate 2012 Nebraska 4-H Month in February!

(February 1, 2012) The month of February is Nebraska 4-H Month, and counties across the state are celebrating the 4-H youth who have made an impact on the community and are stepping up to the challenges of a complex and changing world!

Recent findings from Tufts University's 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development indicate that young people in 4-H are three times more likely to contribute to their communities than youth not participating in 4-H. Notably, the Tufts research discovered that the structured learning, encouragement and adult mentoring that 4-H'ers receive play a vital role in helping them actively contribute to their communities.

2012 Pick Your ProjectTime to Select Your 4-H Projects!

(January 11, 2012) It is the beginning of a new 4-H year -- and time for youth in 4-H Clubs across the state to select from over 150 projects that provide hands-on learning experiences!  Each project intends to help youth locate potential careers that are of interest to them.

Throughout the Nebraska 4-H Pick Your Project, each of the eight curriculum areas highlights related 4-H activities and programs, college majors, and careers that are related to those particular 4-H projects.  Choose a curriculum area and explore the endless 4-H project opportunities in Animal Science, Communication and Expressive Arts, Entrepreneurship, Family and Consumer Science, Environmental Education and Earth Sciences, Healthy Lifestyles, Leadership and Citizenship, Plant Science, and Science, Engineering, and Technology.  These eight curriculum areas also provide projects related to the Career Clusters that are linked to Nebraska School Standards.
