Unicameral Youth Legislature

• At Unicameral Youth Legislature, youth take on the role of a state senator for three days, debate bills, discover how a bill becomes a law, learn the importance of compromise and good debate, and much more!

• Youth will learn communication, problem solving and team building life skills by working with legislative aids, members of the Clerk of the Legislature staff, State Senators and the Governor.

• Unicameral Youth Legislature is for all youth who will be in grades 9-12 following the summer of the event, and who have an interest in politics and state government.

• Unicameral Youth Legislature is held at the Nebraska State Capitol, as well as the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Burr Hall. Burr Hall is located on East Campus, just east of 33rd and Holdrege streets in Lincoln.

• The event is held in early June, in conjunction with Big Red Summer Academic Camps.

• A tuition fee is charged and includes all meals and programs. A limited number of scholarships are available.

• Registration information is currently available online, and is limited to the first 55 applicants.
