The 4-H STEM Challenge, formerly known as 4-H National Youth Science Day (4-H NYSD), is an annual initiative to inspire youth everywhere to take an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on learning. For the past 12 years, 4-H has developed fun, accessible challenges that show youth how STEM skills can be applied to the work around them. Every year thousands of youth across the country take part in the challenge. Each year, National 4-H Council offers a new challenge for youth to complete.
4-H STEM Challenge events may be hosted locally by county Extension offices, afterschool programs, school enrichment programs, and camps. In fact, any educator is welcome to facilitate the challenge activity with their students. Kits are available for purchase which include all the materials and instructions educators need to facilitate the challenge.
