Raising Nebraska

Raising Nebraska is an interactive experience like no other. From science and innovation to community and culture, and even the global economy, Nebraska's agricultural experience touches everyone. A joint effort of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, and the Nebraska State Fair, this 25,000 square foot exhibit is designed to help visitors better understand and appreciate the advancements, impact, and global leadership of Nebraska agriculture. 

Raising Nebraska features both indoor and outdoor exhibits including Agri-HouseCombine DriveControl the FlowGrain Bin TheaterTrusted Voices, and Walkable Map of Nebraska. The exhibits are available year-round and staffed by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension and volunteers. 

Nebraska 4-H Programming

Raising Nebraska hosts a variety of Extension programming, including 4-H events and contests, The Learning Child programs, and Community Vitality events. Nebraska 4-H programming regularly hosted at Raising Nebraska includes field trips and volunteer opportunities. 

Field Trips

Raising Nebraska offers several programs for visiting classes of all ages. These two-hour programs allow students to experience Raising Nebraska through a guided tour before diving into a program specific to classroom needs through hands-on education. Nebraska's Largest Classroom Day

Raising Nebraska is a proud partner in Nebraska's Largest Classroom Day. Raising Nebraska hosts a variety of educational experiences during Nebraska's Largest Classroom Day at the Nebraska State Fair. These experiences are primarily facilitated by Nebraska 4-H Youth Development professionals. 

Volunteer

A variety of volunteer opportunities are also available at Raising Nebraska, including visitor services volunteers who are responsible for greeting and assisting visitors and garden volunteers who are responsible for caring for the outdoor plants and crops. All volunteers are required to complete the Nebraska 4-H Volunteer Screening process in order to ensure a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for all youth involved in educational programs at Raising Nebraska.

Teacher Resources

To help teachers and students use the Raising Nebraska space and resources to their fullest, a variety of lesson plans aligned with Nebraska State Standards are available.

Many of the educational videos that are part of Raising Nebraska's exhibits are available to view online. These resources are intended for teachers to use in their classrooms and are available on Raising Nebraska's Teacher Resources page.
