Coaches Meeting Agenda
- Welcome to the 2024-2025 SUBMERGED season in Nebraska! The SUBMERGED season marks our 16th Anniversary of FLL in Nebraska. For the upcoming Championship, we will host 89 teams all across Nebraska and Council Bluffs, IA.
- App (4-H Robotics Expansion Event)
- We are utilizing our 4-H events app for this event. I would encourage you to download the app and turn on notifications over the next couple of days.
- Maps
- Get to know your surroundings. The event is spread across City Campus.
- App will host the parking map, judging map, pit map and campus map.
- Setup-Pit Table
- We will be housed inside an indoor football field, so we will have a lot more room to work with for both you and spectators. The setup will be exactly like last year where your pit will be facing the other side so that it provides a more spectator showcase experience. The real-life map will host a larger walkway between the two facing sides and we will decrease the width on the back sides to prevent folks from walking in the back of your pits. Each team will have a pit sign on the “front facing” part of your table.
- Feel free to move your table around your pit area.
- This area is yours to design, have fun!
- Parents/Coaches are allowed to help with pit decorations.
- Spoiler Alert: There will be an award for Best Pit Design. Please have your pit presentable by the time you leave on Friday.
- Cook will be locked up overnight and will not be accessible to anyone but FLL Leadership and UNL Facilities.
- Pit Admin Table
- Located at the entrance of the Cook Pavilion.
- Team check-in, volunteer check-in, information, any questions go to this area!
- UNL Dining Hall tickets will be sold Friday (3/21) between 2-4 PM and then on Saturday (3/22) between 9 AM-NOON.
- Blank Bingo cards, completed Bingo cards, evaluation forms, and completed thank you cards will be turned in at the Pit Admin table.
- Need a golf cart ride? You can report to Pit Admin.
- Industry and UNL Experiences
- Teams can still sign up for tours and experiences. Sign up at the Pit Admin table or go on the app and sign up there!
- Over the course of the two-day event, individual team members will have the chance to play BINGO! To complete a BINGO, youth will need to get a full line across, up or down, or diagonal, AND submit a handwritten thank you note. Due at 4:00 PM to the Pit Admin Table.

- Schedule Overview
- Friday: Official Judging will take place on Friday, in the Nebraska Union. Bring all your material to the judging session. You will not have time to go back to your team pit table to grab missing items.
- Friday: The optional scored practice matches will take place in the Coliseum on the official game tables.
- Friday: Industry partners and UNL engagement activities. Kawaski is going to be offering a walk-up experience on Saturday.
- Friday/Saturday: FIRST Tech Challenge Demonstration
- Saturday: Each team will have one scored practice match in the morning. Round 1-2-3 will be your official match scores. Note: The match with the highest score is what counts, we do not average the three match scores.
- Saturday: Pit interviews. The interviews are very informal and will last 8-10 minutes.
- Saturday: Only time to sign up for working time on the practice tables. This is the (3) 10-minute session a team can sign up to practice. No referee, no scoring, just work time. The slots within 12:10 PM-1:10 PM will not be used against your 3 slots.
- Stay on time as we move on schedule.
- Technology/WiFi Update. Open network
- Judging
- How do we judge? 25% Robot Game, 25% Core Values, 25% Project, 25% Robot Design Judging. Just because you may be the #1 or #2 team on the robot game, does not mean your team will be qualified for the Champions award.
- Time in the room is 30 minutes, but teams may not need to use all 30 minutes.
- Teams will not receive an overall room ranking or know how they did against other teams at the event. Teams will just achieve to be the best they can be today!
- Talk to all the judges in the room. Each room will have 2-3 judges that will be working together on your rubric scores.
- Nothing should be left in the room except for team information sheets.
- We are always watching, always show Gracious Professionalism. Remember, youth team members are to be doing the work not only today but this entire season. Coaches should not be handling robots or programming device.
- Rubrics will be sent out the following week.
- Spectators?
- Family and friends can watch the judging sessions. If family and friends cannot make it, we will livestream the robot game at https://nebraskafll.org/.
- Nebraska Innovation Award
- I would expect a “call back” on Saturday for those teams in the running.
- Robot Game
- Concern with the score, ask a team member to approach the Head Ref.
- Be early for your round and check in with the game querers.
- No Challenge Sets setup on the floor.
- Robots are autonomous, no Bluetooth and no laptops near the tables.
- No carts inside the competition robot game area. Tray tables only.
- Robot Game Rule Questions
- Ask Head Referee Sonja Ostler or Alec Preister
