The Nebraska 4-H Gives Back Program is an opportunity for a Nebraska 4-H member to make a meaningful contribution to his/her community.
Alexa Brodd, a 4-H Member in Dodge County, recently completed a service project called, “Tornado Safety and Preparedness Program for Kids.” Alexa’s family’s home and farm was destroyed by a tornado two years ago, and Alexa wanted to make a difference and educate youth about tornado preparation and safety.
The “Tornado Safety and Preparedness Program for Kids” taught youth valuable skills about being equipped for a natural disaster by making storm survival kits. In the process, 4-H members, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and other youth in surrounding communities entered their tornado kits at the Fremont 4-H Expo, Dodge County Fair, and earned scout badges.
