Volunteer Road Show

Nebraska 4-H is proud to present the all-new Volunteer Road Show, a professional development opportunity for 4-H volunteers across the state. Join us for an evening to discover new opportunities for yourself and your 4-H youth, network with other 4-H volunteers in your community, and build your skills as a 4-H volunteer! Be sure to register in advance to save your seat. See registration deadlines below. Registration is $8 and includes a meal and all materials. Payment is due at the door.

Session 1

  • Service Learning Inspires Kids to Do More and Nebraska 4-H Gives Back – Learn how to take 4-H service projects to the next level by giving youth a voice and expanding their learning. This hands-on workshop will send you home inspired and ready to have your 4-H youth do more.
  • SPIN Clubs: The New Way to Volunteer – Special Interest clubs are a great way to focus the learning and 4-H experiences in one project area at time. The volunteer role for leading this experience is focused on sharing their passion or skills in one specific area with a smaller group of youth for a shorter period of time.
  • Connecting Youth to Statewide Opportunities – Do you know how youth can earn trips to national leadership experiences or national contests? This workshop will summarize the statewide opportunities for youth in your county, which could lead to representing Nebraska on the national level. Attend this session to learn about these statewide contests and learning opportunities and how to get the youth you with with involved!

Session 2

  • Leading a Club that Works – Struggling to hit your stride as a 4-H club or project leader? Discover practical how-to tips on engaging youth and parents, organizing the club, and making it fun!
  • Steak Science – During this session, you will be trained on using curriculum to teach meat science lessons. The curriculum includes content focused on how much meat (and other products) animals provide, food safety, labeling, and careers in the meat industry.
  • Photography Basics – Join this session to learn how to introduce basic photography techniques to youth! This session will be focus on using the Photography Basics 4-H curriculum to teach the basics of lighting, composition and background. All levels of photography experience is welcome! Any device with a camera is all you need to participate in this workshop and teach youth about these photography basics.
