  • For constructed garments, complete the *NEW* 4-H Fashion Show Entry Information Form SF25, revised 8/2024 and send to Jacie Milius [Nebraska Extension in Gage County, 1115 W Scott, Beatrice, NE 68310] by August 10th (see address below) OR fill out this google form: https://go.unl.edu/ne4-hsffashionshowconstructedgarmentsf24. *NOTE* Fabric swatches are still required to be sent to Jacie Milius by August 10.

  • Need help writing a narration? See resource link: https://go.unl.edu/exnarrations

The forms/resources can be found in the Nebraska State Fairbook or by visiting your local county extension office. Make sure to keep a copy of your submitted forms as a back-up.

Remember, all this needs to be done and received by Sunday, August 10, 8:00 p.m. CT, unless your county fair Fashion Show results/awards are announced after the August 10 deadline.

The types of garments that qualify for 4-H Fashion Show are listed in the State Fair Fairbook. Example: STEAM Clothing 2 garments include: dress, romper, jumpsuit, or two-piece outfit combination.

The Fashion Show will be divided into three (maybe four, depending on number of entries), smaller fashion shows to accommodate our space in Raising Nebraska.

  • Show #1 – 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (All Wool Garments, STEAM 2, STEAM 3, Beyond the Needle); Participants arrive and register between 8:00-8:30 a.m.  Wool garments need to arrive to register at 8:00 a.m. and be dressed for judging at 8:15 a.m.
  • Show #2 – 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. (STEAM 2, STEAM 3, Beyond the Needle);  Participants arrive and register between 10:00 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Show #3 – 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Shopping in Style);  Participants arrive and register between 12:00 – 12:30 p.m.
  • (Potentially) Show #4 – 3:00 p.m. (Shopping in Style maybe?) Participants arrive and register between 2:00 – 2:30 p.m.

After the August 10 deadline, we will assign participants which show they will model in. We will not be able to accommodate each special situation, so the time assigned is when the 4-H member will model. The shows will all be runway-type shows, with brief traditional-style modeling before a judge.

All participants and spectators should enter the Raising Nebraska building on the East side. The exhibitor entrance will be marked with the registration table. Once registered, participants will be guided to the dressing rooms and judging areas, open to the contestants only, by our 4-H volunteer Hostesses. There is an optional rehearsal during registration for the 4-H members to practice walking the runway; this rehearsal will conclude 30 minutes prior to the show.

The Fashion Shows will begin at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (maybe 3:00 p.m.) in the Raising Nebraska Building. Spectators will form a line and enter through the Northeast doors marked with “Spectator Entrance” signs. Doors will open to the public 10 minutes prior to the show. The Fashion Show is open to the public, however, seating is on a first-come basis. Admission line will form against the building at the northeast doors to Raising Nebraska.

In 2025, each participant will be judged only once, by one judge during the 4-H Fashion Show. Those with purchased garments will be evaluated on Individual Modeling/Accessories and Outfit on the Individual. Judging of the completed Shopping in Style Fashion Show Written Report with Narration (SF184, revised 8/2024) - is done prior to the 4-H Fashion Show. Those with constructed garments will be evaluated on Individual/Accessories, Selection/Creativity, and Construction/Fit.  The scoresheets for both constructed and purchased garments can be reviewed in the Nebraska State Fairbook or by visiting your local county extension office.

Individual publicity photos of all 4-H members will be taken. These photos will be on the web for your county extension staff to access after the State Fair. All 4-H members can pick up their ribbon and scoresheets at the conclusion of the event near the registration area.

We look forward to seeing you at the 4-H State Fair Fashion Show. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call your local extension office or either one of us.
