2025 Nebraska State Fair


Dear 4-H Member: 

We are a few weeks away from the Nebraska State Fair and the 4-H Horticulture Identification & Judging Contest. There are 3 portions to the contest; identification, judging, and general knowledge written test.

Contestants will complete the written test portion of the contests online prior to State Fair either at their local Extension office or at their home. Links will be emailed out the participants using the email address they provided to 4-H Online. The tests will be available beginning August 13th and will need to be completed by Wednesday, August 20, 2025. There will only be one attempt allowed per participant.

The contest will take place SUNDAY, August, 24, 2025, in Raising Nebraska in the Nebraska Building located in the middle of the Nebraska State Fairgrounds (see the attached map with yellow star). Check-in will begin at 12:00 p.m., contest begins at 12:30 p.m. Please bring some pencils & clipboards to assist you with the contest. 4-H attire is not required. Please note, all identification contests (horticulture, tree ID, Weed ID, & entomology) will offered from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

The top 10 individuals and top 3 teams for both age divisions will be recognized for the Horticulture Contest.

The top 4 senior individuals will be able to represent Nebraska at the in-person National Junior Horticulture Association’s (NJHA) Convention and Identification Contest in Baltimore, Maryland October 10-12, 2025. For more information visit: http://www.njha.org.
