Examiners administer skills test for each Horsemanship Advancement Level.
Skills Test may be passed by the following:
Level I - Certified Level 1 & 2 examiner other than a parent or guardian
Level II - Certified Level 1 & 2 examiner other than a parent or guardian
Level III - Certified Level 3 examiner that is someone other than the 4-H member’s own club leader, parent or guardian. List of approved Level 3 examiners is available through Extension office. Additional individuals not on this list also may be used, pending approval by the Extension office.
Level IV - Certified Level 4 examiner that is someone other than the 4-H member’s own club leader, parent or guardian. List of approved Level 4 examiners is available through Extension office.
Level I & II Certification
Level I and II examiners must complete the Nebraska Advancement Level Youth Leader Certification Course in order to facilitate Level I or II Skills Tests. Once the course is completed and passed, examiners will be added to the Level I/II Examiner List which is made available to county Extension offices. To complete the online certification course, please follow the instructions below:
- Visit campus.extension.org.
- Conduct a site search for "Nebraska Advancement Level Youth Leader Certification."
- To begin the course you will need to create a new account.
- After watching all the videos and completing all the quizzes you will receive a course completion certificate.
Level III & IV Certification
Level III and IV examiners need to complete the Level III and IV Examiner Application and email the application to Lena Luck. All Level III and IV examiners need to previously be certified for Level I & II.
Volunteer Screening
All examiners regardless of the level of certification must complete the Nebraska 4-H Volunteer Screening Process. To begin this process, please contact your local Extension office.
